Thursday Snack...Versace Mens S/S 2010 [POLL]

There's nothing worse than looking at a male model who looks like he just turned legal and was finally let out into the sun for the first time...am I right?

Perusing the mens' fashion for this new season, Versace had some of the hottest male models on the runway. Most actually looked like they were over 17, most looked 'straight' and most had nice bodies.  

And, PS...These guys aren't chauffeured to Fashion Week by their mamas; they take the Metro.

Villa Fontanelle: Versace's chateau de Guermantes

I must admit that when the Sotheby's sales catalogue of the contents of Gianni Versace's Lake Como house arrived last week, I didn't tear it open. In fact, it took a good few days to get around to it and even then I approached it with reluctance.

Much to my surprise and delight, instead of being assaulted by brash clear colors and over-the-top gilt and gilt-mounted furniture suites, my eyes took in a restrained - although very high style - villa that was right up my alley (although maybe not so many nudes).

Built by Lord Charles Currie who was so enamoured by Italy that he took up Italian citizenship, the house is in the neoclassical style but as seen through the prism of an English mi'lord. Versace set out to furnish it sympathetically with Empire period and inspired pieces.

My interest was further piqued by the introduction - unsigned but presumably by Donatella - which notes that Gianni called it "a Proust house", one full of memories, sensations, and feelings, which of course made me think of Madeleine Castaing who even kept of photo of the author in her library . Who knows - perhaps she sold Versace some of his Napoleon III pieces?!

Smashing. The dining table below is loosely based on a table in the bedroom of Caroline Murat, the Queen of Naples, in the Elysee Palace, and now in the Trianon (estimate: $8,900 - 14,800)

PERFECTION ...

I think it is only fitting on Valentine's Day to speak of a man that makes our hearts skip a beat and then some ... The breathtakingly handsome Viennese ex fireman, Michael Gstoettner was another of my pleasant discoveries last year in Vienna thanks to Maciek at Next Company Models. Immediately, he catapulted to stardom, shooting major advertising campaigns such as the Versace Man fragrance, Bally, Ermanno Scervino, John Richmond, various editorials and super successful show seasons with Beatrice Models in Milan. I remember my first meeting with Michael, I was embarrassed by his beauty ... he is in person as handsome as he is in his photos. Tall, elegant, flawless skin, beautiful eyes and a sexy killer smile! In these past 2 season's of representing him in Milan, I also was able to get to know him well, he has remained the simple fireman, humble, down to earth, warm and affectionate and always a pleasure to work with. I still have not had the pleasure to shoot him, I am waiting for the perfect project to use this perfect man, Michael Gstoettner is PERFECTION ...
