The child loves to hold a PEN!

Well, not quite yet. But she's real fond of pens, pencils, highlighters, markers, lipsticks... you get the idea. She loves holding the pen JUST the way I hold it. (And she's been doing that since 14 months) She has defaced my pristine white lacquer desk, my new ottoman, the lounge, the carpet, the new pink breast cancer research cutting mat and books.

A few months ago, I spotted a kids' drawing table from a Pottery Barn Kids catalogue and have kept it in mind ever since. Now it seems high time to revisit that idea. As Australia is not privy (and will not be forever - I checked with PB) to the range of furniture Pottery Barn has to offer, I have to scout around for other options and see if I can DIY something for Bubs. Here's what I found and thought were GREAT ideas!


Roller at end of table for butcher paper to COVER pretty table. (Pottery Barn)


Table with sunken top to fit same-as-tabletop-sized paper. (NetKidsWear)


Cheaper version of the above PB table and meant for younger tots. Includes a safe paper cutter at the other end, which means the era of popping Bub's artwork on the fridge is near. (Thinking of making colourful corkboard blocks instead as we like our fridge magnet-free.)


Plywood version of the above PB table, albeit without drawers or paint. (Mothercare UK)


She can rock when she wants to... or turn the rocker-for-two upside down and she'll have a table for two!
