"I love seeing how something I have in mind actually turned out when it is finished." - Tizz
Cuteness abounds in this week's feature on Tizzalicious!
Maartje, or "Tizz" has been making us smile with all of her sweet and quirky things for quite some time now.
She turned her interests into a business about 4 years ago and has been crafting super "kawaii" and colourful goodies in different styles like kawaii, kitsch, retro & rockabilly ever since.

❤ Tell us a bit about yourself...
❤ What inspires you?
Anything cute and things from the past. I love all things retro and vintage, and I think that shows in my designs. I love anything from the 50s and 60s, so I could say that has an influence on my work. Aside from that, Anything! When I see something in a shop, I automatically wonder if I could turn it into something nice. Being on Etsy also inspired me to try out more different crafts.
❤ Apart from creating things, what do you do for fun?
I love shopping, watching movies & Star Trek with the boyfriend, going to concert, photography, my Blythe dolls, drinking hot chocolate, traveling, blogging, messing around online (I'm a member of way too many forums and social networks!), and I am the team leader of the Crafting in Color Etsy Team (http://craftingincolorteam.blogspot.com).
I don't have a full time job, but I am on disability because I get a lot of migraines. I am trying hard to make enough money with my shop so that I will be able to provide for myself, I don't like having to depend on disability, and a "normal" job is out of the question for now. I'm not there yet, but things are going better than I anticipated when I opened my shop a year ago :)
❤ What has been your most memorable moment selling your art?
I loved it when I sold a cute plusie to someone in Japan. They can find cuteness everywhere there, and still she decided to buy something in my shop, on the other side of the world! I thought it was a huge compliment.
❤ What are your current obsessions/interests?
❤ Any advice for fellow artists...
This is not going to be very original, but: Stick to making things you love! We all love to make money with our craft, but don't end up making things you don't like yourself just because they are popular. You need to have fun!
❤ If you could be any character, who would it be and why?Hmmm, that's a hard one. Maybe superman. His clumsy act when he is a real person is about what I'm like in real life, so at least I would have that part covered!
❤ Do you think you lived in a past life? ...If so, where and when?
If I did, it was in the 50s!
❤ Tell us any future plans you have for your business...
I'm hoping my shop will continue to grow, so I will be able to pay the pills without being on disability. Aside from that, I will just keep on creating the things I love, and hoping others will love them too!
❤ Anything else you'd like to add about yourself, your work, etc...
I really don't know. I'm not good at answering questions. :P
❤ Any favourite Etsy sellers you'd like to mention?
I love The Tiny Fig.
