Sometimes, you just need to sit, rest your feet and watch the people stroll by. The Piazza della Repubblica was the original center of the ancient Roman military encampment. The Mercato Vecchio (Old Market) dating from the Middle Ages was demolished and in its place is the Piazza as we see it today. What I want to know is, how do those Florentine ladies wear their spike heeled shoes across these cobblestones!
